The hospital’s Patient Financial Navigation team will now be helping women secure Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women.
Sweetwater County Public Health, which had helped women for many years, no longer offers the service. Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County will now help pregnant women seek eligibility.
The hospital also is now certified to aid in eligibility for Medicaid for children 0 to 18, parents and caretaker relatives, breast and cervical cancer patients, and former foster youth.
Presumptive Eligibility for Pregnant Women is a Medicaid option designed to improve an applicant’s access to temporary Medicaid while their eligibility for full Medicaid benefits is being determined, according to the Wyoming Department of Health. Eligible pregnant women are limited to outpatient services through a Medicaid provider for up to 60 days after completing an application for Medicaid.
To qualify, a woman must be:
- Pregnant
- A U.S. citizen or lawfully present in the U.S
- A Wyoming resident
- Income eligible at or below 154% of the Federal Poverty Level.
If determined eligible, the applicant will receive full Medicaid benefits (Pregnant Women are limited to outpatient services) through a Medicaid provider until a determination is made on the full Medicaid application, or the last day of the next month if a full Medicaid application is not received.
“We are happy to take this on,” said Patient Financial Navigator Melida Marin. “Megan Benedict, the other patient financial navigator, and I are here to assist you.”
To determine your eligibility, please make an appointment with the MHSC Patient Financial Navigation Team at 307-352-8202. No appointment needed; walk-ins welcome!
