Respiratory Therapists care for people with serious health problems associated with their lungs and ability to breath. The Respiratory Care Team is always ready to respond to a variety of emergencies.

The Respiratory Care Team at MHSC works together with you and your physician to find solutions tailored to your medical and personal needs. We know your input is crucial to positive medical outcomes, and together we will reach effective treatment decisions.

Comprehensive care and testing

Pulmonary Lab consists of state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment needed to perform the necessary tests and protocols for accurate diagnosis of pulmonary conditions.

Tests We Provide

  • Spirometry – pre and post bronchodilator
  • Diffusing capacity for carbon monoxide (DLCO)
  • Body Plethysmography (Body Box)
  • Maximum Voluntary Ventilation (MVV)
  • Maximum inspiratory pressure and maximum expiratory pressure measurements
  • 6-Minute walk test
  • Arterial blood gas measurement (ABG)
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG/ECG) is a procedure that records the electrical activity of the heart:
    • This is a walk-in procedure (no appointment necessary)
    • Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Cardiovascular Stress Testing provides measurable feedback about the function of the heart

Tests We Provide

  • Plain stress test (treadmill)
  • Cardiolite stress test (treadmill with medical imaging)
  • Stress/echocardiogram (treadmill with ultrasound)
  • Chemical stress testing (medication instead of treadmill with imaging)
  • Holter/Event Monitoring, which records heart rhythms from 24-72 hours or 14-30 days for an in-depth look at heart activity
