Medical & Surgical Unit

Caring for Acutely Ill and Surgical Patients

The Medical/Surgical Unit at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County provides care for acutely ill medical and surgical patients of all ages.

A mix of highly qualified nursing personnel includes registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and unit secretaries, focusing on patient- and family-centered care. This group works as a coordinated team to perform a vast number of duties which include coordinating plans of care with patients, their families, ancillary departments and other facilities; assessment of their patients from admission to discharge; administration of medication; pre- and post-operative education; and discharge education for family and the patient. That is just a small amount of what this staff does as they attend to all psychosocial, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of their patients. The Med/Surg team believes in their core values of: Caring, Integrity, Teamwork and Excellence. Using these values, they strive to provide safety and comfort for you during your hospital stay.
